Health tourism

Third of the strategic fields for Konya tourism is the health

tourism, that was also mentioned in the 2023 action plan

of the Turkey’s tourism strategy prepared by the ministry

of culture and tourism. Ilgin sub-province is declared as

thermal tourism area by the order of prime ministry, where

only a small part of its potential has been used. Besides

Ilgin, there are thermal water sources in Ismil (Karatay),

Kosk (Beyshehir), Cavuskoy (Huyuk), Kavak (Seydishehir)

available for tourism. Qualified hospital, favorable clima-

te and the moral ambient of the city are valuable assets

for further development. Congress, Meeting, Fair and

Sports Tourism This area has also potential for differenti-

ated tourism activities and investments. Halls of public

and private companies, hotels, and municipality are all

important. Number of certified beds are increasing with

new investments in the city. Improvements and deve-

lopments in the number and quality of transportation,

educational, sports and commercial facilities are ideal

for being a center for congresses. Similarly, sports facilities

are also important. Guests who come to the city for

these activities spends more than other tourists. Cong-

ress tourism is a major contributor in other markets and

national economy. A standard touristic package for sun,

sea and shore costs about 600 dollar per capita. While, a

package for congress tourism is sold about 1,150 dollars.

Besides, the visitors may contribute in the promotion of

Turkish tourism in abroad and share their experiences with

others in the fields of culture, art, science and sports.
