of Industry, OSEG 2014, International conference
for clustering of the automotive industry was
a venue of convention for national and international
participants from automotive industries worldwide. The
future, the problems and the solutions for the automoti-
ve industries were discussed. The conference was held
in four tracks, namely, Engine story of Turkey, effects of
automotive clusters on engine technologies, domestic
engine process and engines in the world.
During the event, awards and plaques were presented
to companies having TS/ISO 16949 quality certificates,
including Aydinlar spare parts, Aydinsan brakes, Filkar
automotive, Genmot, Kagan casting, Koneks piston,
Mahle Mopisan, Mesa machinery, Platin Balance, Supar
valves, Yenmak pistons, Yildiz pul. A Motor Exhibition was
also opened to visitors.
Conference was participated by Muammer Erol, gover-
ner, Mustafa Kabakci, MP, Prof. Dr. Ersan Arslan, advisor
of ministry of science, industry and technology, university
rectors, Selcuk Ozturk, chairman of chamber of commer-
ce and a good number of guests and industrialists from
Turkey and abroad.
In his opening speech, chairman of chamber of in-
dustry, Memis Kutukcu emphasized on the importance
of experience, technical know-how in the production
of a domestic engine in Turkey. He said, “We can build
a national brand in automotive by the year 2023. With
its powerful industries Konya is ready to support in this
critical issue. We started the first clustering project for
automotive industries. Number of companies having na-
tional TS ISO standards rose up to 12. Konya has expan-
ded its production power not only in automotive but also
in other industries as well. We worked like ants to leave
giant works done behind. We got the results of our efforts
and exports have risen 39.4 percent in the last four years
and number of exporting companies by 31.4 percent.”
Prof. Dr. Ersan Arslan, advisor to ministry of science,
industry and technology pointed out the importance of
cooperation and clustering of industries and said, “For
