rinting Masnavi - the worldwide renowned work of
Hz. Mawlana - by translating into 23 world langua-
ges, Konya Metropolitan Municipality continues to
translate it into 7 more languages. Konya Metropolitan
Municipality Mayor Tahir Akyürek said that they were ma-
naging the work to let Hz. Mawlana’s crucial work which
has been guiding based on peace, affection, respect,
tolerance for centuries to human beings in order to be
read by more people.
Ranking first among the books read mostly, Hz. Mawla-
na’s renowned work, Masnavi was translated by Konya
Metropolitan Municipality into 23 languages; the number
will be raised by 30. The goal of the Metropolitan Munici-
pality is to heighten the number to 50.
Noting no doubt Hz. Mawlana is one of sources which
feeds human being’s collective intelligence, conscien-
ce, spirit, Tahir Akyürek, Mayor of Konya Metropolitan
Municipality, stated Masnavi has been guiding human
beings based on peace, affection, respect, tolerance for
centuries.
Highlighting nowadays there is a need much more to the
words of wisdom of Hz. Mawlana in our near geography
and in innocent countries where tears do not stop, Mayor
Akyürek reminded they would manage works to let Mas-
navi to be read by many people across the world.
Recording they had translated the important work into 23
languages up to date, Mayor Akyürek said, “Translating
the work into the world languages which started in 2005,
the Masnavi translated into 17 languages by 2009. Today,
it has reached by 23 languages together with Azeri lan-
guage which has been in printimg stage. The translation
of Masnavi into Azeri language was done by Ebülfez Qu-
liyev. Translation of the work into seven more languages
are continuing. So, Masnavi will have been translated into
30 world languages. We include the languages which are
spoken ranging from the Mideast geography to final end
of west, subcontinent of Africa to Turkistan.”
Translation continues into 7 languages besides 23 ones
To date being translated into the languages of Persian,
Turkish, Urdu, French, Turkmen, Spanish, English, Arabic,
German, Italian, Albanian, Swedish, Japanese, Bosnian,
Flemish, Kazakh, Uzbek, Tajik, Chinese, Greek, Russian,
Malaysian and Azeri, as for the languages of which trans-
lation are continuing are Portuguese, Polish, Amhara,
Swahili, Uyghur, Kurdish and Ottoman Turkish.
Across the world as the most 6th widespread langua-
ge Portuguese is spoken by 190 million people in South
America and 34 percent of Latin American people. Polish
which is spoken by 38 million people in Poland across the
world by total of 50 million people. Amhara language is
spoken by 150 million in Eastern Africa; Swahili language
is spoken by 80 million people in Eastern Africa. Uyghur
language is spoken by 10 million people in the countries
of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China, Kazakhs-
tan, Afghanistan, Kirgizstan, Mongolia, Pakistan. The
languages of which translation is continuing there are
Kurdish which is also spoken in our country and our near
geography. Translation of Masnavi - on which explanati-
ons mostly made after Koran and Hadith-i Sharif - into the
Ottoman Turkish is continuing.
