Konya Exports October 2014

L

atest situation in the economy. Despite all of the

negative developments experienced in 2013, Turkey

has shown a growth of 4 %. For the first quarter of

2014 it was 4.3 % and this was signaled that the growth

rate can be sustained in 2014. These figures have satisfied

the industrial circles. The growth rate shows that Turkey is

the fastest growing country among 33 countries in Europe

and faster than 19 of the G-20 countries. This makes us

happy. However, inflation rate and current account

deficit are not down so they must be closely observed.

Besides these, the policy of CB on interest rates does not

give assurance to industrialists in their intentions to invest.

We believe that if CB change its position in this regard,

investments and production will increase. Every citizen

has to bear responsibility in our fight with trade deficit.

Spending on technology products causes major part of

the deficit. For this reason the responsibility of industria-

lists in producing more valuable products is rising once

again. Besides we want to emphasize on the importance

of the chaos and unstable conditions in the world. When

this instability ends, the country can catch a great jump

by trusting on the future. Position of Industry in Konya.

“According to the data issued by Turkish Assembly of

Exporters, exports from Konya during June 2014, was 112

million USD by increasing 8.1 %. For the first six months of

2014, it rose 21 % and reached to 791 million USD. The

main cause of this increase in Konyan economy that rea-

lized higher export performance than country’s average

is that Konya industries have reached to competitive

position in international markets. Products produced by

Konyan industries are demanded and sought after and

reach wider markets. Rising number of companies in Kon-

ya shows how dynamic is the city. As MÜSİAD we do not

see this sufficient but we have to emphasize that we can

manage more than that if we act in unison. While all the-

se promising developments have been experienced in

Konyan economy, developments in Iraq and Middle East,

our major markets for exports may bring some serious

concerns in their intentions to invest of the industrialists.

In case chaos and the war ends in the Middle East and

in the world, we believe that industrialists in Konya may

contribute more in the export targets for Turkey in2023.

Konya may export

more for 2023 targets
