nspecting the works on the Mawlana Avenue in the scope of

Alaaddin – Adliye Rail System Line, Tahir Akyürek, Mayor of Kon-

ya Metropolitan Municipality, stated that they have built a very

vital transport line in Konya. Noting the line would bring together

Seljuk region with Karatay completely, Mayor Akyürek said the

number of visitors would raise, a commercial activity to materi-

alize. Tahir Akyürek, Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality,

inspected the works on the Mawlana Avenue in place within

the framework of Alaaddin-Adliye Rail System Line project. In his

speech, Mayor Akyürek said the line would bring together the

Seljuk region and Karatay region wholly, adding that at the end

of coming together of Mawlana Avenue and Seljuk region the

number of visitors would increase, a great commercial activity to

be experienced.

Highlighting the line, which was 14 kilometers in length as going

and coming, had featured as a first in Turkey, Mayor Akyürek said,

“Here we are implementing a state-of-the-art technology which

exists only in a few cities across the world. There will not be pole

and wire on the line at the area up to Mawlana Culture Center.

The line will run together with the vehicle traffic up to Mawlana

Culture Center.”

Recording that the work had required attention in the region the

works were managed in surveillance of the officials from the Board

of Monument due to historical works reveal even excavation in 60-70

cm depth, Mayor Akyürek said, “Here is one of the fastest advancing

works in Turkey. Working period has been 1,5 months since starting.

Water and sewer system and other infrastructure lines were by-pas-

sed. Now the rail system infrastructure was prepared and rails are be-

ing laid. We try to accomplish the works in a short time. During work

we were able to permit the vehicle traffic limitedly. In this process, we

thank much to patients of our citizens who experienced trouble. We

allow our city to win a very crucial vital point.”
