nspecting the restoration works at the His-
torical Konya Shopping Center which have
come to the final stage, Konya Metropoli-
tan Municipality Mayor Tahir Akyürek said the
commercial activity and number of visitors
had increased in the area. Mayor Akyürek
said they would not permit occupation of
pavements and visual pollution at Bedesten
(Historical Market).
In the scope of Mawlana Culture Valley Pro-
ject, Tahir Akyürek, Mayor of Konya Metropo-
litan Municipality, controlled the restoration
works which have reached the final stage at
the Historical Bedesten. Stating that they
had come almost to put the final point
on the work managed at the historical
shopping region, Mayor Akyürek said they
would be completing the ground regulati-
on on Tevfikiye Avenue in a near time. Ma-
yor Akyürek continued, “According to the
new concept, we have some new though-
ts at Bedesten. Here commercial activity
and visitor number began to increase. We
will intervene to some occurrences, we
will reregulate. The tradesmen in Bedesten
helped us much during our works. The Histo-
rical Konya Shopping Center was renewed.
Here the Alaaddin Hill and Mawlana Tomb
which was integrated with the work here,
both rail system is almost completed and
front regulation is continuing.”
Speaking with the tradesmen and citizens
who shopping in Bedesten, Mayor Akyü-
rek noted they had planned not to leave
anything which causes visual pollution there,
according to that, they had constituted a
working order.Konya Metropolitan Municipa-
lity restored the number of 2 thousand 687
stores at the historical Bedesten.
