Mayor Tahir Akyürek said the
Science Center supported by
TÜBİTAK would be one of the brands
of Konya. Mayor Tahir Akyürek added
that they felt happiness due to being
gained the first Science Center to Kon-
ya in the support of TÜBİTAK.
Stressing that their aim was to convert
the Science Center to a structure to
increase the power of Konya and to
make one the brands of the city, Mayor
Akyürek marked that being remembe-
red of Konya with the Science Center,
the universities nearby Hz. Mawlana will
increase the value of the city.
Ankara road will be science valley
Wanting Konya to claim to the Science
Center, Tahir Akyürek, Mayor of Konya
Metropolitan Municipality, said, “It will
also convert the Ankara road to a main
city road. Now the works, new parks
we have done will unite the distance
between the city center and the Scien-
ce Center with green texture, walking
way, bicycle way. Ankara road as a
whole will turn into an attraction center
together with the Science Center.
We will integrate here with the Konya
industry. After this, the exhibitions here
will be produced by Konya industry.
Including an area of 100 thousand sq
meters, the Science Center has an
indoor area of over 26 thousand sq
meters. Being added an area of 450
thousand sq meters to the garden is
going to rise by 550 thousand sq meters.
We will make one each samples of the
scientific studies, inventions, interesting
scientific elements which made in the
world at this garden in the course of
time. We have already decided one
of them. It will be Uluğbey Observation
in Samarkand. Tens of works like this will
strengthen our Science Park gradual-
ly. The first science center of Turkey in
this aspect of Turkey will have been
opened in Konya. Ankara Road when
thought together with its industrial zone
will come into a science valley.”
