S

elçuk Öztürk, Chairman of Konya Chamber of

Commerce, introduced “2023: Konya Fair Organi-

zation Center” together with the executive board

holding a press conference at the KTO International

Fair Center.Chairman Öztürk elaborated the project in

his presentation:

The majority of the fair organizations are held in Istanbul,

Bursa, Izmir, Ankara, Konya, Adana, Gaziantep, Diyarbakır

and Antalya throughout Turkey. In 2013, a total of 437

fair organizations were held, 129 of them as international

held in Turkey. Of those 52.4 percent with 229 fairs were

held in Istanbul. The most of fair organizations were held

in Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara respectively.

In 2023, when we look at the fair statistics totally the num-

ber of 60,520 exhibitors participated in the fairs. Of those

some 15 percent consisted of the foreign participants.

The number of 15,5 million people visited the fairs and

total of 2,835,308 sq meters were used.

In 2013, when we regard the cities which held over 10

fairs, the most visited fairs held in Istanbul with number of

5,039,382 people as seen on the table. This was followed

by Izmir with 2,5 million, Bursa with 1,5 million people

respectively. When we draw our attention to “Number of

Total Fair Exhibitors” column, despite the number of exhi-

bitors being less in some cities, visitors were much, in some

cities although the number of exhibitors was much, the

number of visitors was less. We can interprets this situati-

on like this; the fairs which held are suitable for demand

and needs of that region and near surrounding, and also

more qualified, more specialized fairs were held, despite

their number is less, the number of visitors would be much.

When look at indoor areas of the fair centers, CNR Istan-

bul Expo Center has the biggest area with 150 thousand

sq meters ranking at the first line. TÜYAP Istanbul ranked

at the second line with 98 thousand sq meters and KTO

Fair Center ranked third with 66 thousand sq meters.

In recent years, investments in fair centers have increased

in Anatolia. In the upcoming years, it is foreseen that fair

and fair organization activities would progress in some

cities out of Istanbul and would be an attraction center

in Turkey. In Konya, it is seen that the number of fair orga-

nizations decreased when compared to past years, but

the number of visitors increased. This shows that from now

on the fair organizations should be predominantly more

qualified and being able to respond fully to the needs of

the market.
