In 2013, Konya with 12 fair organizations
ranked 8th in the cities where fair held mostly
in Turkey. The fairs which were held in Konya
account for 2.75 percent of overall fairs held
in Turkey.
In Turkey, fair organizations are held approxi-
mately on an area of 500,000 sq meters. In
Konya, with the new fair area fair organiza-
tions will be held on an area of 86 thousand
sq meters including indoor and outdoor
together with the new center. The fair area of
Konya comprises of 17.2 percent of Turkey’s
total fair area and 34 percent of the total fair
area of Anatolia. The number of visitors who
attend to the fairs in Istanbul we see nearly
90% more than Konya. While the number of
229 fairs was held in Istanbul, in Konya only 12
fairs were held in 2013. In 2013, the number
of total fair participants was higher 29 times
than Konya.
Konya ranked 5th by the number of visitors in
cities where over 10 fairs were held in 2013.
With the new center, the city will rank first in
terms of fair area.
Having the biggest fair area of Anatolia,
Konya aims to rank 2nd of Anatolia, 3rd of
Turkey mostly visited fair area as of at the end
of 2016.
As one of the foremost centers with its emer-
ging economy and developing performance
being a crucial value added for its country,
Konya should advance with its bureaucrats,
tradesman and industrialists, universities, all
establishments and organizations and its
people for this objective.
Our project entitled, “2023: Konya Fair Or-
ganization Center” has been installed on a
three stages plan. As the first stage, we have
brought KTO International Fair Center up to
the third big of Turkey and the biggest one of
Anatolia with a total of 86 thousand sq me-
ters, with 66 thousand sq meters indoor area,
20 thousand sq meters outdoor area.
From 1999 to 2014 serving with 2 halls, the fair
center began to serve to the Konya eco-
nomy with 6 halls with the addition of 4 halls
since May 2014.
At the end of the new investments ac-
complished by our chamber, reaching by
86 thousand sq meters, as 66 thousand
sq meters indoor, 20 thousand sq meters
outdoor, by winning the biggest fair center
title of Anatolia, Konya Agriculture Fair held
at the International Fair Center of Konya
Chamber of Commerce by hosting 203,121
visitors including 75 provinces from home and
with 45 countries abroad. With this feature,
the biggest agriculture fair of Turkey, as for
Europe and Asia Konya ranked third biggest
agriculture fair was held at the International
Fair Center.
How being spread of industry from Istanbul to
Anatolia is a compulsory, also shifting of fair
organization to Anatolia is a compulsory by
2023.
Today, Istanbul features the majority of
organizations being held and possesses the
biggest fair areas. But the experiences and
development of Konya in fair organizations
increases with every passing day. With 86
thousand sq meters fair area entered into for-
ce in May 2014 Konya is almost a candidate
city to be a fair center in the upcoming years.
After Istanbul, Konya has the second biggest
fair area. Istanbul has become a city continu-
ously costs increases with raising population
and cosmopolite structure. So these costs
reflect to the fair organizations held in Istan-
bul. Nowadays, in terms of the expenses that
are made by a firm to participate in a fair in
Istanbul equals almost a fair held in Europe.
For this reason, fair organizations firms have
begun to observe the cities out of Istanbul.
Konya has begun to advance towards to be
an attraction center in fair organization with
its geopolitical position, developed industry
and trade structure, geographic conditions,
transportation easiness, cost reduction.
The bus terminal and airport exist at the fair
area in 5 sq kilometers. Our fair center, which
has been at the intersection of the ring road
of Ankara, Adana, Aksaray, will be a fair cen-
ter that features as the best logistic of Turkey.
On the other side, this region will be one of
the most important trade centers of the world
with its Fair Center, Organized Industrial Zone
and Logistic Center. Our fair center will be
connected to the city center through light rail
system.
With these features, saying Konya to beco-
me the fair center by 2023 is not a dream
it is a goal can be realized very easily. In
order to accomplish this target, our second
stage plan is to hold at least 6 fairs with full
of 6 halls. We will bring the fairs of machi-
nery, construction, food, cast and seed-a-
nimal into a brand fairs as agriculture fair.
We also aim to hold four more fairs with
completely full of four halls to achieve the
objective of 2 million visitors as of 2017. With
this aim we are working on our project.
I would like also to share our project’s third
stage of the project “2023: Konya Fair Or-
ganization Center” at this meeting together
with you.
We maintain our works on our project to
increase current 6 halls to 12 halls of fair
center. We will make our fair center the
biggest fair center of Turkey with the total
area of 212 thousand sq meters, 132 thou-
sand sq meters indoor area, 80 thousand
sq meters outdoor area and 19 sq meters
circulation area. A fair center with this
feature will make Konya the fair center of
Turkey in 2023. Our fair center will let Konya
gain international branded fairs contribu-
ting TL30 million with one of each and will
also become opening gateway of the
sectors in our city to abroad.
