1.Mawlana Museum

Previously used as the dervish lodge of Hz. Mawlana, then conver-

ted to Mawlana Museum in the building complex, the museum has

been serving since 1926 n Konya. It is also called “Mawlana Tomb”.

The Mawlana Tomb which is called (Green Dome) was built based

on four elephant foots (Thick columns). After that day, construc-

tion activities have not finished at all, continued up to the end of

19th century. Some of the Ottoman Sultans belonging to Mawlawi

Tariqa (religious order) has given to a special importance and

secured well protection of the tomb.

While the museum area was 6,500 sq meters together with its yard,

the area has been reached 18,000 sq meters with rose gardens.

2.Lake Meke

The Lake Meke has been in the Karapınar town of Konya is a lake

which comprised of an extinguished crater with filled water and

having isles in its center. The lake is located in a distance by driving

2 kilometers following turning point of the road from 7th kilometers

alongside Karapınar-Ereğli.

Having formed 4-5 million years ago in Pleistocene era at the

end of volcanic eruption this crater (pyroclastic cone) has been

converted to a lake by filling water in the course of time and later

a second volcano cone was happened 9000 years ago with a

volcanic eruption this also converted to the lake by filling water.

The Lake Meke has 981 meters of height from the sea level. As for

the Lake Volcano Cone at the center of the main Lake Meke has

a height of 50 meter from water level, with salty water in 25 meters

depth. The Lake Meke has been included into Ramsar Convention

in 2005.

The volcanic mass which constitutes the island has the capacity to

be able to absorb almost the most vehement rains. This is the rea-

son that the shape of Lake Meke has not destructed for thousands

of years.
